Save your neighbor Barry from his own demons in CP2077's Happy Together side job

Cyberpunk 2077 is full of big and small side quests that immerse you into the world of Night City and are so deep and well-written, that it feels they belong in the main story. One such small mission is the Happy Together side job, where you will have to help your neighbor Barry deal with his depression and save his life.
In this guide, we will walk you through the entire Happy Together side job in CP2077 and help you get the good ending. This guide has been tested on Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.0.
Warning: the Happy Together side quest in Cyberpunk 2077 contains depictions of depression and, depending on how the quest plays out, self-harm. If you find these themes disturbing, you may not want to complete this quest, as it is optional content. Also, the following guide contains spoilers.
How to start Happy Together in Cyberpunk 2077
You will get the Happy Together side job very early into Cyberpunk 2077’s Act 2, after you finish the holocall with Takemura at the end of the Playing for Time main story mission. The quest starts at Megabuilding H10, where V’s first apartment is.
To start the quest, you need to talk to two NCPD officers, Nadia Petrova and Juan Mendez, who are standing on the level just below your condo in H10, in front of apartment 0613. Offer your help, and they’ll ask you to check on your neighbor Barry, a former cop who is having a rough time.
Knock on the door of apartment 0613. You won’t get an answer from Barry the first time, so you’ll need to try again a few hours later. Either do another quest and get back to Barry’s condo a bit later or go to your apartment upstairs and sleep in your bed for at least three hours. This will give you an XP boost. You can also just use the Skip Time option from the menu.
Talk with Barry in Cyberpunk 2077’s Happy Together side quest
Regardless of your preferred method to kill time, after at least three hours, you should be able to knock on Barry’s door again. This time, he will answer and open the door.
The starting dialogue options don’t influence the outcome of the quest, so you can pick any. There will be an additional option, if you’ve put at least 4 points into Body. In my playthrough, I picked the more neutral “I just wanna talk” option as an opener. Here’s the best way to start your conversation with Barry, so he opens up to you.
- I just wanna talk.
- Your friends asked me to drop by.
- [Sit] I lost someone too.
You’re now sitting on the coffee table next to Barry, and from this convo, you can learn more about your neighbor and the recent loss of his friend Andrew, but if you’re not careful, you can also trigger the bad ending of the Happy Together quest, so make sure you read and follow this guide carefully.
As with all conversations in Cyberpunk 2077, during your chat with Barry, you will have blue dialogue options, which give more side information and context and are usually optional, and yellow dialogue options, which actually progress the conversation.
While talking with Barry, make sure you listen to everything he has to tell you by picking all blue options first before choosing a yellow option. When you’re presented with more than one yellow dialogue option, always choose the more compassionate one. Here’s a full list of the safe yellow dialogue options throughout your conversation:

Once you’re done talking with Barry, you’ll have two new tasks to continue your quest. You can either talk directly to the cops or find Andrew’s niche at the Night City Columbarium. Here’s what you’ll get in your journal:
- Talk to the cops
- Find Andrew’s niche before talking to the cops (optional)
The second objective is marked as optional, but if you don’t complete it, it will trigger the bad ending of Happy Together. So, you must go to Andrew’s niche first, if you want everything to end well.
Regardless of your choice here, the quest will not fail, and you will get rewards, but caring enough about your neighbor’s story and paying a visit to his friend’s final resting place will lead you to the good ending.
Find Andrew’s niche before talking to the cops
Andrew’s niche is located in the Night City Columbarium in North Oak, in the Westbrook District. Make sure the optional objective “Find Andrew’s niche before talking to the cops” is activated in your journal, so it’s easy to find your way to the Columbarium on the map.
There’s a fast travel point just in front of the columbarium, but chances are you haven’t discovered it yet, so the closest point you can fast travel to will likely be Redwood Market in Japantown. Drive to the columbarium from there or all the way from Megabuilding H10.
When you arrive at the columbarium, you need to find Andrew’s niche there. Go through the main entrance and turn right just before the third set of steps, then immediately turn left and you will see Johnny Silverhand appear next to the wall that houses Andrew’s niche.
Read Andrew’s epitaph and you’ll discover that Barry’s best friend was a tortoise.
You can have a quick convo with Johnny Silverhand, but it’s entirely optional and won’t affect the outcome of the quest.
Talk to the cops after visiting the Columbarium
Head back to Megabuilding H10 and talk with Mendez and Petrova. You can fast-travel to the H10 building and go down the stairs to level 6. You can still get the bad ending if you’re not careful about one dialogue choice in this convo with the cops.
Make sure you select the “I visited Andrew’s grave” option to let them know that Barry’s best friend was a tortoise and get the good ending. Choosing the option “Barry’s depressed.” will not save your neighbor’s life. There is a third blue dialogue choice that is optional, and you can pick that one first without influencing the quest’s outcome.
End the convo with “Go see for yourself.” and your quest is done. Petrova and Mendez will knock on Barry's door, and he'll let them in. You’ve saved your neighbor’s life and taught his colleagues a lesson in compassion.
Happy Together bad ending
If you choose to speak with the cops without going to Andrew’s grave first, you will get an objective to visit Barry again later. Upon returning to his condo a few hours later, you will find Mendez sitting on the ground next to a puddle of blood with Barry’s apartment door wrapped in police tape.

Visiting Andrew’s niche but not telling Mendez and Petrova about it, will also trigger the bad ending. Not being empathic with Barry and not listening to his story through optional dialogue will also prevent you from getting the good ending and saving his life.
